ESPN X Games
The ESPN X Games is an action-packed sporting event held twice per year. Summer X brings the best in skateboarding, BMX, moto and rally car racing, while Winter X features races and tricks on skis, snowboards and snowmobiles. The app features in-depth info about the competitions and athletes, but also include real-time scoring updates, photo galleries and videos of the events. Introduced at Summer X for the first time is the radio player from our friends at Slacker, which includes songs from artists hand-picked by the athletes themselves.

Kentucky Derby
The kick-off in the Triple Crown series, folks far and wide don their seersucker suits and fancy hats to celebrate the running of the Kentucky Derby. Far more activities take place at Churchill Downs than just one race, and this mobile app provides the full schedule of races, concerts and events for the season, plus horse and jockey information. Not lucky enough to be there in person? You can still take part in the experience with recipes and party planning tips, or take your picture with a variety of fabulous Derby hats.

Preakness
The next jewel in the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes is a long-standing tradition not to be missed. Find post times for all the races, a glance at horses and jockeys, concert and event info throughout the weekend, what to say at the window when placing bets, and so much more. The app also features a news ticker that keeps users updated on racing news as it happens.

Texas Book Festival
Established by First Lady Laura Bush, a former librarian and an ardent advocate of literacy, the Texas Book Festival honors over 200 Texas and nationally known authors, promotes the joys of reading and serves to benefit the state's public libraries. Approximately 40,000 visitors participate annually in a weekend of author readings and presentations, panel discussions, book signings, and musical entertainment at the State Capitol in Austin. Functions for the event app include the ability to link a book author to their session on the schedule as well as a deeper informational level within the schedule function. Users can also find literary events in their area held throughout the year.

With more than 140,000 attendees each year, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is the largest book festival in the country. Began in 1996, it brings together the people who create books with the people who love to read them. The app allows users to easily find information on the various exhibitors, sessions, artists and titles, as well as add them to their favorites or personal schedule.

Big Day Out
This traveling music festival takes place cities across Australia from Sydney to Perth, bringing an all-star lineup of bands and artists to our friends Down Under. Users can schedule their time to see the likes of M.I.A, Tool, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother, Lupe Fiasco, and Iggy and the Stooges, while also finding sideshows and tour stops in their area. This app introduced the ability for users to choose their city from a list of six, and the data adjusted according to the selection.

Lotus World Music & Arts Festival
Held each year in Bloomington, Indiana, the Lotus World Music & Arts Festival is one part of a community program created to provide opportunities to experience, celebrate and explore the diversity of the world's cultures in music and the arts. Inspired by Indiana musician Quinten Lotus Dickey (1911-1989) and his spirit of open inquiry into music and cultures other than his own, the 3-day festival features music from across the globe, as well as dancing, stilt walkers, hula hoopers and an art camp for the kids.

Winnipeg Folk Festival
The Winnipeg Folk Festival is a summer folk music festival held in Birds Hill Provincial Park, near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It features a variety of folk artists from all around the world, as well as a number of local folk performers. It has grown into a major annual festival attracting crowds of 45,000 over four nights and requiring the efforts of over 2,200 volunteers.
